Weak Opening Weekend for Drag Me to Hell
Sam Raimi’s return to horror didn’t put the fans in the seats the way many anticipated it would. Despite a huge marketing campaign and the fact that the director’s Spiderman films are box-office gold, Drag Me to Hell manages to bring in just $16.6 million it’s first weekend in theaters. To put that number in perspective, last year The Strangers brought in $21 million for the same weekend without a superstar director or cast.
